Ragazzi, finalmente venerdì 14 Gennaio ESPN NFL 2K5 è uscito! Ad oggi, mi viene però segnalato che non è reperibile ovunque. Occorre pazientare ancora qualche giorno perchè la macchina della distribuzione compia a fondo il suo dovere.

EA ottiene l'esclusiva sulla NFL!

Una brutta notizia a 2 giorni dall'uscita Italiana dei titoli ESPN.
EA ha strappato alla NFL un contratto che ha dell'incredibile: dalla prossima stagione infatti nessun altro gioco all'infuori di Madden NFL potrà vantare loghi, nomi di squadre e giocatori della NFL.
Il contratto prevede l'esclusiva fino al 2010. Questa è senza ombra di dubbio una brutta, bruttissima notizia in quanto ciò significa che l'anno prossimo ESPN 2K6 non potrà proporre in alcun modo il campionato NFL. Resta da capire se Sega svilupperà comunque il gioco utilizzando nomi e loghi fittizi, oppure lascerà a bocca asciutta tutti noi appassionati della serie.

Quest'accordo di EA suona come un'imposizione da dittatura. Un monopolio reso possibile solo dallo strapotere economico di questa software house e messo in atto con un solo intento: scalzare il rivale ESPN NFL che stava iniziando a dare molto, molto fastidio.

Molto probabilmente dunque il mondo perderà la serie ESPN NFL prima che ci si accorga della sua qualità e dell'assoluta superiorità rispetto alla serie Madden. Quest'ultima diventerà il "miglior gioco di football" solo ed esclusivamente per mancanza di concorrenza, stroncata dai milioni di dollari, non certo dalla critica.

E noi per giocare il campionato NFL dovremo accontentarci dei passaggi facili e delle corse surreali e leggere dei super-omini-robottoidi di EA. Grazie, dio denaro...

Impressioni a caldo

Amici, non ce l'ho fatta ad attendere il 10 gennaio... Quindi, prima di quanto promesso eccomi qui a raccontarvi le mie prime impressioni su ESPN NFL 2K5.Tagliamo la testa al toro: il gioco, rispetto alla versione precedente, è migliorato. Pare proprio che Sega abbia scoltato con attenzione le critiche mosse dagli utenti relative ai difetti della scorsa edizione ed abbia agito di conseguenza, andando a limare grafica e gameplay laddove se ne sentiva il bisogno. Intendiamoci: il gioco non è stato stravolto... E questo non può essere altro che un pregio, vista la bontà del predecessore. A tutti gli effetti ESPN NFL 2K5 è il miglior gioco di football americano disponibile sul mercato.
Vediamo ora le novità più evidenti.
- Sparisce la modalità "season" e rimane solo la modalità Frachise. Quest'ultima ha dei settaggi, mediante i quali, si può affrontare una stagione senza prendere in esame salari, trasferimenti, ecc. ecc. ottenendo così un campionato esattamente come quello della vecchia modalità season, appunto.
- Modalità Franchise: ampliata nella sostanza. E' ora possibile affrontate addirittura il prepartita. Infatti, se scegliamo di occuparci anche di questo aspetto di gestione, saremo chiamati a stabilire un calendario di preparazione al prossimo match nel quale inserire a piacimento ore da dedicare all'allenamento aerobico, tattico e via dicendo, nonchè a visualizzare filmati relativi all'avversario che andreamo ad affrontare! Incredibile, mai vista una simile completezza! 2K5, grazie a questo aspetto, diventa anche un ottimo gestionale.
- Gameplay: giocando si notano subito alcune cose. La velocità di gioco è aumentata notevolmente! Questo è rilevabile soprattutto quando si è in attacco, visto che bisognerà essere scaltri e voloci a liberarsi del pallone prima che "la tasca" ceda. Il quarterback è messo sotto pressione come mai prima d'ora. I passaggi sono migliorati notevolmente. Intendiamoci: completare appare più difficile, ma più realistico. Soprattutto è stata affinata la fisica della palla. I lob pass finalmente sono dei veri lob. La palla sale, compie il suo arco perfetto e vederla atterrare morbidamente tra le mani del ricevitore è un vero e proprio spasso. Altra cosa, se il vostro QB lacerà la palla in corsa o mentre e troppo pressato, lo spin della palla non sarà perfetto, ma disegnerà una spirale poco regolare. Come avviene nella realtà! Favoloso! Durante i giochi di corsa, il notro runnigback si muoverà ora ancor più agilmente. Se già 2K4 faceva mangiare la polvere sotto questo aspetto a Madden, 2K5 ingrana la marcia successiva, sprinta e doppia il rivale di EA, facendogli mangiare anche di peggio... A questo va aggiunta la novità del Maximum Takle. Quando si viene placcati infatti l'indicatore del giocatore diventerà rosso. A questo punto bisogna premere come dei forsennati sul tasto X per cercare di "vincere" il takle liberandosi dell'avversario o, nella peggiore delle ipotesi, guadagnando qualche yarda extra.
- Grafica: pressochè immutata rispetto alla versione 2004. Le vere innovazioni hanno rigurdato le animazioni, ora molto più fluide e realistiche. Anche le fasi "televisive" come, l'half time show di Chris Berman o l'intro degli incontri sono state migliorate. Ora è persino possibile osservare il paffuto commentatore ESPN nella sua "versione digitale". A fine match la simpatica Susy ci intratterrà a bordocampo con la proclamazione e l'intervista al miglior giocatore della partita. Le innovazioni nelle animazioni hanno riguardato anche un importante aspetto della partita: la misurazione del down con la catena. Come nella realtà infatti, in caso di dubbi, gli arbitri chiameranno la misurazione. Bellissimo sentire i giocatori della difesa che dicono "No first, baby! No first!". Eh eh eh...
- Audio: siamo più "sul campo". La voce dei QB che chiamano gli schemi, il rumore dei caschi che sbattono violentemente l'uno contro l'altro, le voci dei giocatori che sottolineano le azioni, insomma c'è veramente tutto e anche di più. Un altro aspetto che si conferma e si migliora rispetto alle passate edizioni.
- The Crib: Ora la sala che custodisce i nostri trofei, il punto di ritrovo dei giocatori e dei fans è molto più curata. Sia nell'aspetto, più definito ed elegante che, soprattutto, nella sostanza. Infatti, vincendo le partite, accumulando ore di gioco o battendo qualche record, guadagneremo i "Crib Credit"; veri e propri soldi da spendere con i gadgets più stilosi personalizzabili con i colori della nostra squadra. E non è tutto! Abbiamo a nostra disposizione anche un fastidiosissimo telefono sul quale ci chiameranno i VIP che vogliono sfidarci. Ad esempio, la mia prima telefonata è stata quella di Steve'O; ebbene, questo odioso personaggio mi ha sfidato, io ho accettato e lui non ha fatto altro che insultarmi per tutta la partita. Piccolo particolare: la squadra controllata dai VIP ha 100 sia in attacco che in difesa che nello special team... Una bella sfida!
- ESPN 25th Anniversary: Ovvero, la modalità che potremmo chiamare "situation". Si tratta di una serie di sfide ispirate a situazioni reali del passato, come ad esempio dover rimontare 30 punti con i 49ers o giocare un drive con 20 secondi a disposizione e 6 punti da recuperare. Insomma, le sfide vanno tutte vinte, inutile dirlo, per sbloccare degli extra da utilizzare nella Crib. Molto bella l'atmosfera che si viene a creare in questa modalità, soprattutto grazie all'esaudiente spiegazione di Chris Berman che introduce ogni "situation" nei minimi dettagli.
Bene, sono arrivato alla fine di questa anteprima. Spero di avervi fugato qualche ulteriore dubbio. Nel caso avessi dimenticato qualcosa, oppure ci fosse qualcuno di voi interessato ad altri aspetti non presi in esame, non deve far altro che mandarmi una mail. Sarò ben lieto di rispondere!

Finalmente tra le mie mani...

Eccomi qui, dopo mesi di estenuante attesa... Stringo tra le mani, in anteprima, una copia italiana di ESPN NFL 2K5. Avrò 10 giorni di vacanza per testarlo a fondo, dopodichè posterò tutti i miei commenti, le analisi e quant'altro possa risultare interessante. Intanto posso solo dire che il packaging del prodotto è molto bello, con la foto del mitico T.O. impegnato in una ricezione delle sue!
L'appuntamento è quindi al mio rientro in ufficio, il 10 gennaio, per i primi commenti su questo capolavoro annunciato. Allora mancheranno solo 4 giorni al lancio. Tenete duro!
